Student Resources/Interview Preparation

INTERVIEW PREPARATION

Once you’ve applied for a college placement or job, an interview will typically be your next step. Interviews are arranged so businesses/employers can get to know you, your skills, interests and whether you suit the role you’ve applied for.

ADVICE FROM OUR TUTORS

Your interviewer at AccXel will most likely be the tutor potentially teaching you should you be successful. Here’s what their advice is...

WHAT WILL I BE ASKED?

All interviews are different! However, in most interviews you will be asked questions about you, the job, and how well you work with others. Below are some of the most common questions to come up in interviews and how you might answer them:

  • Tell me about yourself (Give them a short summary about yourself! Your age, your interests, your hobbies, anything important you’d like to mention)
  • What are your strengths and areas of improvement? (Maybe you’re good at listening to instructions, or work great hands on? Improvements could be)
  • Why do you want this job? (Be enthusiastic! Talk about how this job will benefit you and your future)
  • What do you know about the company? (This is your chance to show you’ve done your research. Explain what you know about the business)
  • Do you have any experience? (This could be volunteering at school, work experience, part time jobs)
  • What are your future plans? (What do you want to achieve both inside and outside of work?)

General Advice

  • First impressions count, make sure you’re dressed smart!
  • Practice answering questions like the above to build your confidence
  • Plan ahead so you arrive to your interview on time.
  • Be honest and yourself! AccXel are looking for potential not perfection.
