What is a CV?
A CV is a short document that explains who you are, what you’ve studied/had experience in and what your interests are. When applying for a job or an education placement, you provide your CV so whoever is reading can learn more about you before meeting you.
It’s a great way to sell yourself to a potential employer/education setting and land yourself an interview.
CV Tips
- Keep your CV clear and easy to read (1 or 2 pages is enough)
- Make sure you include your name and contact details
- Include any qualifications you may have (GCSEs, NVQs, A levels) or if you’re still studying, what your predicted grades are.
- Add any clubs, sports, hobbies, or activities
- Include any achievements (in or out of school)
- Don’t worry if you don’t have work experience – school experience still counts
- Check spelling and grammar carefully
- Ask a teacher, parent, or carer to check your CV before submitting
