JCB Plant Operator Apprenticeship (Level 2)

What is a JCB Plant Operator?

Plant operatives are highly skilled construction professionals who prepare, set up and operate a range of large machinery essential to building, infrastructure, and utility projects. They work on everything from motorways and rail lines to demolition and utility works, often in all weathers and to tight deadlines.

They also:

  • Operate four core plant types – 360° excavator, dumper, telehandler, and ride-on roller
  • Dig, move, shape and load materials such as earth, stone, and tarmac
  • Transport and place loads around site, sometimes to heights of over 17 metres
  • Compact ground and surfaces to specification for roads, paths and embankments
  • Direct and guide other plant vehicles safely around site
  • Work alongside ground workers, supervisors, and other trades to meet project goals
  • Follow strict safety procedures in this safety-critical role
