What is a Construction Site Supervisor?

A Construction Site Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. Their primary responsibility is overseeing the day-to day operations on a construction site.

The main duties and tasks of a CSS include:

  • Oversee Site Operations: Manage daily activities, ensuring work is completed on time and according to plans
  • Supervise Workers: Direct and monitor construction workers, ensuring safety and efficiency
  • Ensure Safety: Enforce health and safety regulations and conduct site inspections to prevent hazards
  • Quality Control: Inspect work to ensure it meets required standards and specifications
  • Manage Resources: Coordinate materials, equipment, and labour to keep the project on
    schedule
  • Communicate Progress: Report to project managers and stakeholders on site progress and issues
  • Problem-Solving: Address any issues or delays that arise on the site
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain records of work, inspections, and safety audits to ensure compliance with regulations

Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship course details

The Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship is 24 months.

The first week of the programme will be an induction, in which apprentices receive health & safety and safeguarding training, as well as participate in team building exercises. The apprenticeship programme will then be delivered in block release.

Our apprenticeship combines classroom learning and site visits to allow apprentices to practice their skills learnt during theory sessions.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship programme, apprentices will also gain a Level 4 HNC in construction management for England (construction site supervisor).
